d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

Hey everyone! It's been a really long time since I was last here. Man life really knows how to take you for a ride! I've been in and out of doctor appointments and everything trying to get to the point that I could get into a specialist for my heart condition and it's finally happened after waiting and going to serveral doctors I have a date for my procedure! July... But still, its progress!

I'll have some pictures later today of my D'anvers that are now 4-5 months old now. They are all very beautiful and I love them. Even the two extra Millie roo's

Kristen! I only have a pair of blue silver quail but the roo has lot of rust and the comb look kind of flat too. He's still young, hopefully the comb will get better. If not, I'll get the blue silver pullet with one of my silver roo to make more blue silver quail in the spring. Do you want the F1 columbian eggs or day old chicks in the spring?
Would love to get the opportunity to hatch some Columbian eggs. I have some Blue Buff Columbians myself, so I could easily integrate the Silver genes with them for a bit more genetic variety and to better set the Columbian traits. Most of mine have pretty clear backs. They need a little work on type though.

Yes, some of my Blue Silver Quail still get rust. It has something to do with the mahogany genes that haven't completely disappeared from the original red Blue Quail I used to breed to my Silver Quail hens. When I first started in the variety I didn't have any Silver Quail males. It shows up from time to time, but using your other Silver Quail male should help clear it up nicely.

Glad to check in! Some of these pictures are amazing. Gorgeous Crele male from you Aubrey, JJ is lucky!

And now...back to thesis research!
dont he know it, or he better !!

I got to quit helping JJ before I have them myself haha

NA dont mind it at all as long as they go to folks that will continue working on them.

I wanted to ask, what colors do you think will show the best? Out of my chicks (two hatches...one 6 weeks old and one 2 weeks old) I have 5 Lavenders, 1 black, and 3 mystery whitish ones, which I think will be whites. I'd like to thin out how many I have, but I'm unsure what to keep. I'm not in a huge hurry....I don't want to push my girls too hard right now to pick and choose. My middle daughter's showmanship bird was killed by a hawk yesterday and they are devastated. I'd like to have some direction to steer them in though. We had an issue with the lavender/self blue coloration at the last show they entered, and I'd rather not even deal with it in the future really. I'd like some quail pullets, but I ended up with two salmon favorelles that followed me home from the fair instead. ooops

I have a chicken addiction problem. I'm going to try to get some more pictures tomorrow since they change so much in a week.
