How do you keep your water from freezing?

Pics
I have to report that with our cold as )(*$% temps we've had in CT lately, my vertical nipple system froze. So... we put up the 5 gal bucket with the vert nipples and now they have one of those rubber grain feeders (that you grain horses with) with the water heater in that.

My vertical nipple bucket works as low as 1°F tested so far. The two keys are insulating the nipples and having a submerged heater.

I use PVC pipe to direct the exhaust air from furnace or water heater to a big water bowl underneath.
The air will prevent the water frozen.
It works very well.

I guess the carbon monoxide dissipates quickly enough not to cause death?
@VLCooper Would love to see some pics of this set up.

Put a big bowl of clean water under the exhaust. The heat from the air will prevent the water frozen.
The picture was from my previous home.
My current home's exhaust is much higher. The setup is a little different, but I think it works too.
Our ducks and chickens drink that water everyday. Picture will provide later
