I was not home when my first eggs were laid but they were saved for me. I don't have a scale that will weigh eggs yet but I know I got one that is huge and I do not know which chicken laid it.

First Eggs


These are from Golden Cuckoo Marans, Gold Laced Wyandottes, and Black Copper Marans. My Wyandottes lay the cream colored ones.

My spectrum of eggs from a variety of breeds: Black Copper Marans, Blue Splash Marans, Welsummer, one unknown breed (perhaps Barnevelder/ Partridge Penedensenca/ Welsummer mix?)several assorted medium brown eggs layers, Cream Legbar, Easter Egger, Mallard, Khaki Campbell, and finally, Golden Campine. I'm such a sucker for beautiful colored eggs!

The top egg is my girl, Pepper's first egg at around 20 weeks. The bottom one is an egg she laid this week at 30 weeks old. What a difference!
