thankyou for that first of all. At least I know 99% chance of being a hen is great luck for me LOL. I currently have 3 broody hens sitting in eggs

i have only had one attack at night and I agree with the last post about it down playing foxes during the day. I have lost many chickens to foxes at day time instead of night time, useful article though for beginners
But please do do surrounding research into the matter before you base all your pens around this. They will and do chew through wire

i wish I had known all this before I first free ranges my chickens cause I would have been more intuitive into their alarm noises sadly I have not been home and they have been attacked whilst freee ranging I now usually only let them out when I am home

i wish I had read this when we had an aggressive rooster but he died ( natural causes). You should most definitely get a rooster they will save your flock!!!!
