There is a lot of good advice packed into this short, easy read. The photos and illustrations are nicely done and supportive of the text. On a personal note, I'll add, "Even if your chickens never thank you for the additional coop height ... your BACK will!"

Easy instructions, easy set-up, easy maintenance ... and super-easy on the wallet! Harvesting is easy, too. Just pick up a scoop with a dollar-store kitchen sieve and shake it gently. Smaller worms and eggs fall through. Live beetles crawl over the edge, leaving the dead ones in the basket as extra chicken-treats. If you want to keep the pupae, just flick them out with a finger-tip - and if you pick your scoop carefully, you may not even have to do that!.

Very comprehensive, but not overwhelming. There's just enough science here to help the layman understand without getting too boggled in the technical details. I've been trying to find a locally mixed poultry feed for some time, with no real success. Armed with this information, I think I'm ready to try it myself, now. THANK YOU!

This is a nice start-up coop - cute and compact. Be forewarned though, that those are not nearly big enough for what the advertisers claim. It's good that you have only four hens in there and that they have lots of free-range time. It should last you for awhile ... until Chicken Math catches up to you! They also tend to weather quickly. You can make yours last longer by giving it a coat of weather seal. Over the next couple of years, you'll be thankful you did!

An overhead sketch to show the design's layout would be very helpful.
I realize that this is a work-in-progress, so I'm looking forward to seeing more about this wonderful set-up. Oh - and you're leaving out the best part ... we wanna hear about the camper full of chickens and how you survived a vehicle breakdown with such a menagerie. Sounds like a GREAT story!

Great information on a method that most people think is difficult use. It couldn't be easier ... and this article shows just how simple it can be. The link to purchase a clicker is a bonus ... but a REALLY neat bonus would be a video, especially if there was a trick involved!

I LOVE a playhouse coop ... and this is a VERY nice example! The only suggestion I would make to this would be to split the nesting box door into two parts ... so you don't have escapees ... I learned this the hard way! There is very little text to this article, but the pictures say it all ,,, as does the expression/attitude of the little lady watching over the project. I hope you built HER a playhouse, too!

Simple, straightforward, effective. Not much detail, but with the pictures, they aren't really necessary. The true beauty of this type of feeder is that it is easily adapted to pretty much any space - limited only by the components available at your local hardware store!

This is a generalized description of a very interesting DIY incubator. The 'bator seems well-built and efficient, but recreating it would be nearly impossible using the article as a guide. Please, please, please, add some diagrams, some instructions and maybe a parts list so we can make an attempt at doing this ourselves. It's really neat!

There is a great deal of good information here. It's a good primer for beginning hatchers and a nice refresher for "Old Hands."

Good article! Excellent step-by-step pictures and text ... and a really nice finished product. The addition of the run extension, complete with pics and plans, is a great bonus.

Another nice adaptation of a playhouse, this time starting with a new one. Playhouses are pretty easy to convert to a coop ... as this article aptly demonstrates!

Well written and well picture-documented ... and a REALLY nice set-up, to boot. The article reads like a story - very smoothly with lo9ts of personal asides and family touches. Very nicely done!

Large, roomy and about as close to "predator proof" as you can get! Some pics of the inside set-up would help a lot, as would some details on the actual build (dimensions and such.)
This is a fun read ... I LOVE the "Hunting Season Logic!" And as far as making it "cute" goes, there's a big, blank slate, there. Maybe add a little lattice paneling with some edible vines, some flowers a bench or some interesting wall decor. They would go a long way to softening the "fort" look you not thrilled about!

A few more build details would be nice, but as the poster said, there weren't any real plans, just a good concept. Still, it worked, and the result is a clean-lined, bright and spacious set-up. The stone "foundation" is not only an aesthetic plus, but an additional predator barrier. I like it!
