Fermented Feed - How we do it - The 4 Container Method

Very good example of How To ferment with a constant fresh supply. I used to use (2) seven gal kitchen trash cans. Seemed to work well but agreed that it needs a dedicated area.
This article inspired me to make some fermented chicken feed. So simple. Love it. Thank you.

Being new to all this, I had never considered feeding fermented food to the chickens. I look forward to pictures when the weather permits you to start fermenting again. I’m a bit lost about the amount, If I’m understanding correctly, you are feeding a quart of f. feed per day, for about how many chickens? And, this is a supplemental feed given in addition to other feed?

BTW ... this made me think of this ... how do you figure how much feed to feed? I still have so much to learn ...

I have 7 chickens. Last year they were all under a year old. I will likely feed 2 quarts per day now that they are all big hens and we are hatching more chickens and some turkeys. We always offer dry feed in addition to the fermented, so you could say it is supplemental. I try to ensure that the fermented feed makes a significant portion of their diet though.
We plan to start fermenting again soon since the weather is turning better here in Illinois. Pictures will be coming soon.
Pictures would really be nice. Been thinking about fermentation for my chickens. Thank you!

Article would be great with added pics. Pictures can speak a thousand words.

Once the weather breaks and I start fermenting again, I will add pics. It will just freeze if I set up a batch right now.
This is a good article. It makes fermented feed sound much easier than I'd thought. When the weather breaks again (I HATE winter ice!) I'll be giving it a try. Can you please put in some pics, so readers can see what the stuff is supposed to look like before, during or after fermentation?

I'm working on pics. We don't have a batch at the moment due to weather. I know I had some pics I've posted before, just trying to find them...
