One of the very detailed reviews suggests Dulcolax, but says the ingredient is Dulcosate Sodium 100mg which is a stool Softener (not stimulant). The grocery store version we found has the Bisacodyl as the only ingredient which is a laxative stimulant which the writer says never to use.
I will head back to the store to find a brand with the Dulcosate Sodium, and the writer may want to update their post if they can shed some light on this.
Or I may try the ginger lemon remedy.
No you can't use bisocodyl because it has a laxative in it. Stool softeners only. If you are treating an impaction, mineral oil/liquid paraphin (1ml 2 times daily) will work just as well.
I refer to this article frequently for sour crop. It is so detailed and informative!
I have a question though: the lemon juice, cinnamon, etc. formula is clearly posted in one section. Further down (second paragraph below the crop-bra photo), the same formula is referred to as the baking soda, cinnamon, ginger mixture. Is there supposed to be baking soda in it? I put a little in, just in case, and it still seemed to work.
This article helped save three of my vulnerable rescue hens in their first month with me. I refer people to it over and over, and have only thought to rate it!! Thank you very much!
This article helped me save my little silkies life I found her tucked under coop cold ,wet, poopy bottom barely alive. 1 1/2 days of fresh lemon juice, ginger & cinnamon worked wonders!!! Thank you
Thank you so much. Your article helped me to save my duck this weekend. The step by step guide on how to treat the crop or impact issue was so easy to understand and follow. She’s not at 100% yet but we’re getting there. Thank you so much.
