I have been trying to decide about what type of shelter to put the chickens in at the new place. Last night my husband said "just go to Smith Steel and get and estimate on the building you want" OH MY GOSH.

I just know it's going to be too much, but its nice to fantasize.

Oh i love to go shopping for my chicks... I find myself when driving looking at different buildings or structures saying woo that would make an awesome coop, wonder if i could move it to my place.

I wanted to do that too.I found a 14x40 shed online. I did the math, and it could fit 186 chickens. SURELY that would be enough!! Then I looked at the price. Eight thousand something!!!!

Not awake yet, I'm sure. Here's the specs

24' x 40' steel building. two walk in doors on one end, sliding door on the other end. Metal siding stops 3 feet above the ground. 1 pitch roof.

The bottom 3 feet will be wood clad with pop door, fenced or open to run. I can customize each area depending on what pen I have at that spot.

you didn't say you were buying up all the chickens left in the world.. that is huge!.. we are building a 12x16 and i thought that was big.. can't wait to see what you end up with.. keep us posted
 
The idea is that this will house the "coop" and indoor run portion of breeding pens, with outside runs attached. It will also house show cages. Hopefully an incubation room and a brooder room.
 
basically your building them a personal mansion with gym, bar, swimming pool and perfect gardens as an ofset
