I had a few requests to re post the how to part of building a snake trap......Plastic garden netting with the half inch square holes.(tractor supply) Cut to length,as long as your coop. Roll until you have about 6 coils, and twist.Wrap that with another piece to make a cylinder, leaving the opening side down. Make sure you have a tightly twisted inside, with a loose easy to penetrate outside layer. Put the tube around your coop with pegs every so often to secure it. (Also works great along water ways)........ PS. If your dealing with anaconda like the fellow in Florida posted. You might need bigger netting.

Edited the pic of the trap full of snakes out.

They are brown snakes. Yes that's one of my traps,& my photo. I watched this type of snake eat a 3 day old gosling. On another occasion an 8 inch bull head. Snakes make there way around mostly by smell & touch. The outer layer feels to the snake like an easy place to penetrate. (We all know how they like to hide under things)By the time it gets 2 layers in,there's no backing out. I don't have anything against snakes in general. There an important part of the ecology. They just don't belong in my hen house.

Very cool! We've had 6 different kinds of snakes on the property, including rattlesnakes. I am going to set a trap like yours. Thanks!

I can't help but wonder... are they edible? I've paid A LOT for eel at sushi restaurants... maybe you could have a side business? I think I would need to have my husband cut that writhing mass down. What happens next?
