I was thinking of releasing it at Raven Rock which is a fair distance from my home, but I might try the nail polish trick.

Do you plant the mint around the outside of your home?

I didnt do mine in the yard .. I went way out in the cornfield .. Silly ....

Do you plant the mint around the outside of your home?

Well, I haven't planted any outside yet. If you do be careful, mint is very aggressive. It will shoot out runners and take over the whole yard. I am going to do some in pots this year. What I did before is get plain corn cob pieces, like the kind used for bedding, and soak some mint essential oil in it. You can use peppermint or spearmint, but make it pretty strong, but not so the cob is wet. I then stuck them in these little organza bags that I had laying around, the kind used to hold little party favors. You could use something different, but don't put essential oils on plastic or wood. Glass or ceramic would be fine. Anyway, put the minty cob out in different places inside where you have seen mice or where you think mice can get in and refresh around once a month. Your house will smell great! I also made carpet refresher by mixing baking soda with a little borax (ant repellent among other bugs) and scented it with the mint oil. Let it sit on the carpet for a bit then vacuumed as usual.
