Sunflower Chickens

KansasBoy- Nicely done! Come finish mine for me? I keep getting distracted.

GeoKan- Very nice- you can use baby parrot formula over their feed to correct a lot of the pasty bum issues. It has vitamins, electrolytes and probiotics. I just sprinkle it over their feed.

Ivywoods- Isn't it nice to know you've developed a great immune system through exposure and that you're exfoliated naturally?

Glad to hear your hatch went so well! Like that brooder!

Just remembered I didn't share my brooder over here... Oops

It does have the doors now...

100% free with the exception of the wire! All reclaimed wood (pallets)

These racks were all salvaged from the local Westlake Hardware, the manager even offered to get the forklift to load them!

The bottom brooder was just a pallet with a box framing!

Nice looking tractors KansasBoy.

I know I'm late to the party, but I also got some things accomplished this past weekend. I've been busy building my brooder. Not fully completed, but close enough for chicks. I still have to construct another door and put in a litter shelf. The other side has wire mesh I plan on putting their food and water in. If you noticed, I set up my brooder cam in front of one of the windows. I really enjoy peering in the windows. They come running up to your face. Just cracks me up. You can check my chicks out at http://geosbroodercam.dyndns.tv

I was able to achieve more than 50 percent hatch rate my first time out. I think that's pretty good. I had 11 chicks that hatch out of Ivywoods' eggs. Two didn't make it. I now have 7 Lakenvelders, 1 Partridge Wyandot and 1 BCM. Two are in isolation to heal. I'm having to give my lowly BCM butt baths for constipation and 1 Lakenvelder is in there because of a bloody cord that has dried up and is about to fall off.

Here's a few pics of my brooder.

Nice brooder. I would soften the edges on their roost.
I could not get you webcam to work using IE 8 or chrome. I saw no message but KDOT may be blocking it.

I'll put some more sandpaper to it. I did sand some, but I think you're right about the edges.

I haven't had issues with others not being able to view my brooder cam. Perhaps try it at home and see if it works for ya? Oh, I forgot to mention that if your Java isn't up to date — it won't work.

KansasBoy — Nothing better than free wood! Nice job on the brooders as well. Looks like you're set for some chicks! There's a ton of room in there too!
