Had to name this one yen-yang. With the whole black eye and black side of the beak, and the other being opposite.

All eight of them hatched with no help from me... I like it much better that way. Now I'm off to set my GL's.

I've decided to get chicks (if possible) rather than hatching eggs in August or September. I can get the chicks I want (except the olive eggers, true Araucanas and Ameraucanas) from Meyer hatchery, but I'd rather get them locally.

These are the breeds I am interested in - not necessarily all of them - the ones I want most have a * by the name - these are just the breeds I think are particularly pretty - and I want a variety of egg colors - pullets only right now:

*Black Copper Maran
*Real Araucana
*Real Ameraucana
*Olive egger
*Welsummer
Silver-Laced Wyandotte
Blue Andalusian
Speckled Sussex
Barred Rock
Partridge Penedensenca

I know that some of the folks on this thread breed chickens - and I was wondering if you know of someone/somewhere that'll have female chicks in August/September of some of these breeds. Around 10 altogether. I can travel an hour or two to get them - anytime after August 7th.

Thanks!

Hi Carol,
I have 2 speckled sussex pullets that are just a few weeks away from laying age. My rooster for them went missing this week. If I can't find them a roo, I might go on and sell them if you are interested in them. They are very sweet good natured little girls.

Aaaag. You all are killing me. Here I decided to be patient and wait until spring to slip some hatching eggs under my current girls and get out of the work of raising chicks to finish out my flock, but seeing all these sweet chicks is killing me. I keep going back and forth, maybe I should go ahead....

If I could just brood them anywhere but the house, I'd go ahead. It's the whole nasty dust stuff in the house that gets me. Our garage seems too hot, of course the coop is too hot....

Then there's the whole how to get some Ameraucana chicks. I'd like Wheaton, but open to anything but solid black or solid white. I'm so close to trying my hand at hatching eggs. Ugh, what am I thinking???!

Hmmmmm
