We don't need to swap..if we could get a public location and spread the word like crazy we could just sell sell sell

got to go take the camera outside and get new baby pics of coarse the only babies I have right now have ears and a tail...I'm about to start up a bator for my little Millie's it looks like they are starting to pick it back up in that pen and I need some chicks!

I would have some to sell! I'm sure when these eggs hatch, I'll have some males to rehome - and when I figure out for sure which Araucanas are male, I'll have to rehome them, too.

I'm technically in Kentucky in Clinton County, but I work in Putnam Co Tennessee and am in Pickett/Overton counties in TN quite a bit. I raise Phoenix and Sumatra so I can't help you with the Orps, but there is a weekly livestock auction that often has hundreds of chickens for sale in Cookeville (Putnam Co) and I've seen some fantastic Buff Orps there. You buy them by the head, bring your own cages (although they do sell some of the cages, no guarantee you can get one before the chickens you want come up for bid!). The sale dates to find the best and most chickens are the Exotic Sale dates, which happen 4x a year but be prepared to spend all day and half the night if you want to see all the chickens go through - the one I went to early September had thousands of chickens - fortunately the ones I wanted I "only" had to wait until 6pm to bid on (I got there at 9am).

The weekly sale is Tuesday evenings and chickens start selling around 5:30 I think, in the secondary ring/barn (horses and tack sell in the main barn/ring). Just a warning though, it's still somewhat of a backwoods environment - check the chickens closely prior to bidding and be prepared to quarantine. Springtime brings chicks to the weekly sale, this time of year are a lot of half grown chickens and older culls.

One of these days I'd like to see a poultry swap meet in this area, as the auction is long and tiresome. I'd rather meet the owners, hear what they have to say about the birds and then buy outright if I wished, etc. Maybe we can organize one in the spring, at Tractor Supply.

the cookville exotic sale is nov 11. you dont need to get there as a buyer until 2pm. chicken sale is suposed to start at 230pm. if your selling you need to have your birds in cages that you are selling them in. you dont need to bring cages, and you will need to take them on thurs the day before. google triple w livestock auction is there website. i will selling there in november. having a swap at tsc in the boro would be great.

The first visit I got about 20 and then came back for 8-10 more, you made me an offer I could not refuse.

Are you talking to me about egg swaps? I am not on an egg swap thread am I?

Seems there is another Donna on here is that who you are talking about?

Donna-my bad your meet up in Sparta I believe it is...Amy is worried you may think she forgot but she just can't message you now.She said she has your # and as far as I know she's still planning on it.
I'm looking around and seeing several EE pullets,a pair of bantam Cochin-splash roo black hen..may add a solid blue hen but she's much nicer so you know what that means,2 RSL pullets, white leghorn pullet,a few ee roos solid white and solid blue,BLRW roo, black orpington kid roos 3 months old,and I may even see a few hens I haven't decided on those yet.I still have my lavender orpington flock...they are so close to laying now all big and fluffy but if anyone wants to buy them I will still sell them as well.

My bator is back on..my Mille Cochin's are laying again so I can't let a good egg go to waste and eating those little eggs seems like a crime

Well folks, Just in case any of you were considering metal roofs for your fall building of coops, you should know I was told today by my biggest supplier that there will be a 5% increase in the cost of light gauge metal roofing in late October. It will be across the board. This will include the corrugated, 5-v old school stuff, and the 3' wide panels like you see on most folks houses and sheds right now. If any of you would like a current price just give me a call, I can sell cheaper than most distributors due to the volume I sell. I'll get you the best deal. I don't earn commission, I just want to help some of you save money in the event you were considering buying some. 615-327-3935 Sam in the metal shop.
