Oh, that's great! I didn't even realize they offered them as pairs; I just assumed they were straight run.

    johnson waterfowl???????????

I have been looking at them. Thinking of ordering some runners because no one around me raises them, and I've had bad luck with hatching eggs, and maybe some Saxonys. Did they have a minimum order, and how were the shipping prices for anyone that has ordered?

Where to find fertile eggs in Japan?

How does chicken keeping work in Japan, like for poultry hobbyists? Do they maybe have internet groups like this one where you could find eggs?

What kind and how to tell the sex?

The spotted one is a fawn and white Indian Runner. I think the brown duck is a mallard, Both look like hens to me; a male mallard would have a dark head that would eventually turn green. I think male fawn and white runners also have darker heads, but a darker brown, not green. Then again, it may...

Any idea what breed this pullet is?

Could be a Swedish flower hen. I noticed that Meyer is offering them now: https://www.meyerhatchery.com/productinfo.a5w?prodID=SFHS

Rooster temperaments and choosing between Brown Leghorn and Welsummer?

It has been my experience that roosters that grew up together can get along if there are enough hens (it can also depend on breed of the roosters, too, as some are less tolerant of other males being around). My biggest issues with roosters and fighting have been between older and younger...

    Rhode Island red? Cockrell?

Yep, cockerel. You can tell by the long, shiny saddle feathers coming in next to his tail.

    removal of leg bands

On Metzer's website, it says that they should be easy to remove. It also says one of the reasons they use the tape is because it will come off on its own within 14 days if not removed by the owner: http://www.metzerfarms.com/SexingBirds.cfm?CustID=4669051

Are these really welsh harlequin ducks?

I don't think those are Welsh Harlequins. I'm new to ducks, but I've been doing a lot of research on breeds trying to figure out what the 4 I picked up at the feed store are, and none of the Harlequin ducklings I've seen had black tails like that. Maybe they are Silver Appleyards or some kind of...

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Good luck! I saw a post about that swap shared on one of the Virginia facebook groups I'm in; they may have runners there, but if not, maybe consider ordering ducklings or eggs. Sometimes, if you want a specific breed, you gotta do what you gotta do. LOL

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

Unlucky picker, are you on facebook? There are several Virginia based chicken/farm groups on there that I'm a member of, and I feel like there are at least several members who do raise runners. Even if not in your local area, they may be able to send you hatching eggs.

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

I picked up 4 ducklings at a local Tractor Supply a couple weeks ago, and I think the two black ones, which I originally thought to be Cayugas, are actually runner ducks because they are starting to stand up very straight. Out of the 4 I have, they are my favorite because they are so laid back...

Call to Anyone interested in Helping with a Cultural Interview for a Human Services Class

That actually might help. :) I could run it by my instructor if you're interested and don't mind responding to some interview questions. The list of questions is provided by the professor, and I could email them or paste them into a private message. Thanks. That is an excellent suggestion, but...
