CyndiD I have other breeds of ducks but only one runner. My ducks sit their own eggs. I don't have an incubator but I do know someone that does. He takes my guinea eggs and hatches them and we split 50/50. It's just so unbelievable that no one close to me raises runners. I'm not trying to be a "breeder" just a hobby. I give away a lot more than I sell. People who are just getting started or children end up with free ducks or guineas. My husband asks can't you at least break even. My answer is no.

CyndiD my post to you turned up somewhere else. Don't know why. But only have the one runner. He's white with some I guess fawn big spots. Have some other breeding pairs of buff, campbell, muscovy, and mallard. Don't have an incubator but know someone who does. He takes my guineas eggs and hatches them 50/50. I just love the look of runners and want to get into just them. Not likely around here. Sell very little stuff. Give most away. Husband says can't we at least break even. Told him no lol

I picked up 4 ducklings at a local Tractor Supply a couple weeks ago, and I think the two black ones, which I originally thought to be Cayugas, are actually runner ducks because they are starting to stand up very straight. Out of the 4 I have, they are my favorite because they are so laid back. If I hold them, they will go to sleep while the other two peep and try to get away. Is this laid back attitude a pretty normal trait for runners?

Also, unlucky picker, where are you at in Virginia? I found my ducks at a Tractor Supply in southwest VA (Rocky Mount), but it's just luck that they seem to be runners as the store didn't know exactly what breeds they had and said the hatchery never labeled the ducklings. I realize that Chick Days are going out now, but you might still get lucky if you check out the feed stores (provided you can correctly identify any runners in a bin of ducklings).

I went to a swap meet there last year. Got a name and number from someone who was gonna have runners this spring. Sent text never heard back. Got a couple of emails on my Craig's list adds. One decided she was 4 hrs from me and the other haven't heard back. Been several days. It's so disheartening.

I saw this post & then i saw ur 2nd post. I wrote a lot & then was loking through my pics to send u & them Wham! I lost everything i typed. I think we r having troubles w/this site? Maybe?
I commend u for giving back to ur friends & neighbors. I want to sell some of my eggs, epecially when all 13 r laying. Right now i only have 5 hens that lay anywhere from 2 to 5 eggs per day & 2 duck eggs per day. I also give a lot of my eggs to my neighbor, because they give us so much.
So, i saw ur other post that u said u have a fawn & wnite runner. I do too, & now i have 4 Buff & 2 pekin & 3 blue runners & 3 chocolate runners. They r growing sooo fast. Take care

CyndiD I can't even find runner eggs. Have three little mixed maybe full breed hatched this morning. Mom has some more eggs waiting to see if anymore hatch. Didn't get all seperated before they started laying. Had a pair of buff and a pair of khaki campbell along with a male runner. No telling what I will get lol And I lost 1st post to you and did second and 1st came back. Think a little problem going on since you had problems. Thought I had done something wrong.
