    Indiana 2010 Chickenstock-2011 NEWS!!

Yes, I can appreciate the multiple Nashville Roads:) They cross this way and that. I would have thought they would give some of these roads their own names that Brown County is so famous for like Sick Milk Bottoms Road and Less Traveled Road. We are at the dead end of Deer Trails across from...

Thanks for putting us on the list. We are really looking forward to coming. Could you mean Salt Creek? I'm not sure where Sugar Creek runs through Brown County. We are just off State Road 46 by the winery, about a mile back in the woods. We have 25 acres and the chickens love running around...

    Pea Pen Fencing

I'm building a new 15x32 outdoor pen for the peas and a few Chinese Pheasants. What would be the best type of fencing? I'm considering chain link or 2x4 welded wire? The fencing will be attached to 4x6 posts and the roof will be metal. My concern is that a raccoon might be able to reach through...

    When do peacocks mature fully

I have 8 peas all approaching about a year old. When do the eyes in the train start to appear? Most of the male necks are now bright blue but the train still has little color. I've read that the train will grow until 3 years of age. Thanks, Jeff

I'm worming my peafowl for the 1st time this week. I have 8 peacocks sharing a pen with 7 Red Chinese Pheasants and a couple Frizzle chickens. I know mixing chickens & peafowl is not recommended but they have been together since almost birth. All are around 8 months old. The only worming...

    Pen Ground Cover?

We use leaves for ours peacocks and chickens. We live on 25 acres of forest and leaves are in abundance here:) The birds love to peck though them and they make great additions to the compost pile when we strip pens. Anyone have any reason for not using leaves? Jeff

    Aglime safe for peacocks?

I'm getting ready to strip pens and thought about putting some lime down to keep the smell down. This will be for my peacock and chicken pens. Our local rural king has AGLIME on sale. Is this the kind I want to use? It's a long drive out there & don't want to make a trip & find out it would...

Can Someone Sex these 6 Peafowl?

Many thanks to all who replied. I was hoping for mostly males and this worked out well. A couple questions: 1) The person I bought most of these from explained that a Loud Pied is mostly dark with small patches of white, while a pied is mostly white with small patches of color. Is this...
