    Is this normal acceptable rooster behavior?

    My rooster has started mating with a hen. Her comb is becoming increasingly bloody. I went out there today and there is a gash in it from where he was holding on. Is this normal?

    I believe I have 2 roosters

    Back in June I desperately wanted 2 Buff Orpingtons along with my 4 other pullets. Now, both of them awake in the morning....crowing. Ugh! I need to find them homes. Does anyone know a rescue or something in Indiana that would accept them???

    That is what I thought. This one is much bigger than the other BO. This one is also a little more aggressive. Almost like it is trying to keep the others in line. Anyone have a Buff Orpington rooster? Are they docile and quiet for the most part?

    Just to clarify...question about hardware cloth and a heat lamp

    I am fixing my brooder. I bought 3 New Hampshire Reds today and put them in a plastic bin. I am covering the bin with hardware cloth and I was going to set the heat lamp on top. Can a heat lamp set directly on hardware cloth?
