    They don't eat fruit, but our dirt is very weird here, so could be that. they eat a TON of greenery around the property though of course. Otherwise, they are their normal selves. I will give them a little coconut oil today, thank you for this information!

    Chick is in coop outside with access to run during day. No heat provided (we are in MA). We are still feeding medicated starter feed and yes, lots of grit always available sprinkled in coop as well as run. Crop doesn’t seem to be different than others. Some have been having BLACK poops...

    *** Has anyone tried using heat tape around PVC pipes for waterer that doesn't need to be plugged in for heat? my husband works as a construction project manager and he says they use heat tape around pipe to keep them from freezing in the winter -- we may try this option!

    Thank you for providing this information and a picture. I have the same waterer, and have tried to fill it right in the coop, but every time I put the lid on, it seems to overflow getting the shavings wet, so I haven't quite figured it out yet!
