Hello everybody. I really do hope that your hens and roosters are fine. I found something interesting yesterday. One of my hens was was sitting on the nest and I initially though that she wants to become a mother. She was not letting any other hen to go inside the nest and she was biting me when...
Well no pics were taken. My dad released him/her. He/she flew really far away . I think it was a very young bird just a bit larger than a pigeon. I hope that this bird won;t bother us again.
I will try to take some pictures tomorrow. I will call the local wild life authorities. They will look after him/her and let it free when its fit again. I hope Mr/Ms hawk will appreciate my help and won't come back here...
I found a hawk trapped in my coop. I have a small area that is used as "hospital", so i found it there. If I let it free will it return for food? What would you do?
I wanted to eat some eggs and I found something strange. I haven't seen something like this before, this why I need some help here. I broke the egg and the yolk was ok, but the white was reddish like it was mixed with blood. Any idea why this happened? Is this due to a disease? Or it's a...
I am thinking to add 10 new members (chickens only) on my flock. They will be around 1-2 months old. My current flock has an age of 7-9 months. Do you think that this will be a problem?
Thanks a lot for your info in advance.
It says though on the label, not to be used in birds for human consumption. I guess there has to be a reason for this. This is why I asked if there is a difference between tylosin+ and tylan 50.
Hi I have two questions. I would really appreciate if some could provide some help here.
First is on medication. I got Tylan from Chevita. The product is called tylosin+. Apart from tylosin it also contains some vitamins and minerals. On the usage instruction it says that I should NOT...
Some feedback on the injured hen. I used St. John's wort. The results are amazing. The recipe is simple. ?Collect some fresh St. John's wort and leave it to dry. Once it dries take the flowers and put them in a glass bottle. Fill half the bottle with flowers and add olive oil till you fill the...
The only place i got is the "hospital" area. I use this place for hens when they want to incubate eggs or in cases i need to isolate a bird. Not sure how many days more it will take for the hen to have her wounds healed, but once it happens the rooster will move there for sure. Today I will make...
Well I had 5 roosters. The problem is that my hens are only 8. All the 5 roosters are young (4-5 months old now) so the last few days that they started being like this (violent between them and violent towards the hens), two of them lost their heads. Once my hen recovers, i will move two of the...
Hi all,
A hen of mine has an injury. I am not sure if this is caused by a hawk or another bird or from one of the roosters. The skin under her wings is torn badly. Her flesh is visible. She is still scared and I have her isolated since the roosters really attack her. I guess the smell of...
