    Chicken gurgling?

I have checked her crop this morning and it is empty so has emptied over night. But she does seem to gurgle more when her crop is full.

    Chicken gurgling?

Ok the sneezing is likely normal then phew. My main concern is the fluid/gurgling noise. It’s very loud and apparent, especially on a hot day, as she opens her mouth and breathes loud gurgling is all I can hear.

    Chicken gurgling?

Thank you for your response:). I have attached a photo, she is a pekin bantam. She has no bubbles or drainage from her eyes that I can see, however she does sneeze on occasion but I cannot see any fluid from her nose either.

    Chicken gurgling?

Hi everyone, One of my hens has been making odd rasping sounds when breathing for about two weeks. Today I’ve noticed she has become worse, she is gurgling and it sounds like fluid bubbling when breathing. She still has all the energy in the world and spends her days foraging/eating/drinking and...

    So what treats are safe??

My chooks love porridge, a hung up cauliflower is a great boredom buster. You can normally put into google and there are a bunch of treats that are safe for chooks. It just needs to be given in moderation otherwise I’m sure they will enjoy their treats and forget about their feed which can...

Am I doing the right thing?

Thank you for your responses. Recently I’ve heard one of our neighbours shouting “F***** shut up chicken!” Another blaring music possibly to drown out her cackling but they are very nicey-nicey to your face! If I had lots of land I wouldn’t be bothered and would let her screech away! But we...

Am I doing the right thing?

I have a cream legbar who is stunning and lays gorgeous blue eggs. I love her very much but over the last few months as she has began to lay I have found she has quite a voice. She screeches and cackles for 2-4 hours before she lays an egg. Once she has laid she is completely silent for the rest...

    Barred rocks

Aww thank you for your responses! I have a mixed flock and love the sound of both breeds. My main worry is about having a noisy hen as we have neighbours all around that don’t take too well to noisy hens!

    First time incubating.

I intend to incubate some black australorp hatching eggs and either Plymouth barred rock or Orpington eggs I haven’t decided. My question is will it be easy to identify these breeds by feather sexing? Or is this unreliable? Secondly, if anyone owns barred rocks/ orpingtons, are they quiet? Would...
