none of my birds are 6 years old.. the oldest is 3... i replace 1/3 of flock per year... this spring i went a bit overboard and got 12 pullets from feed store... i've lost half of those and 2 or 3 of the older ladies... they are eating layer feed...

don't worry so much about keeping them so warm.... most problems with chicks is because people over heat them...... keep 1 warm spot in the entire brooder.. make sure theres a cooler spot.. those chicks will move into the heat when needed and away from it when warm...... they do not need to stay...
it all depends on the space.... like said by centra, if they're free range, no worries... as the space gets smaller the roo count needs to go down also..... i keep 2 roos with 12 hens in a 25x25 run and no probs... 1 roo is the boss and the other 1 is oppurtunistic with the ladies, he gets...
get ivermectin pour on for cattle..... 3 or 4 drops from an eye dropper ON THE SKIN... then treat your coop with whatever dust you use..... throw eggs away for 3 weeks (precaution)...dust coop n birds in 10 days........ you can do it this way 1 time or fight em for months with just dust.... good...
