My job is taking me out of town for the next 2 years, and I am selling my (quite successful!) hatchery business.
This is a Rite Farm Pro 528 incubator. More specs can be seen on the website: coops n more.
This holds 528 chicken eggs, and over 1300 quail eggs. I use it on continuous hatch...
We started the process of streamlining our care of the chickens last year. We enjoy breeding, and hatching, but the care of the breeds and keeping them all in separate coops was too time consuming. My husband and I both have full time jobs off the farm. I am a full time Emergency...
Is there a better choice such as a pure white orp? Not sure if the double laced are a solid black bird with genes for lacing, so I'm not sure how to get from single laced to double.
I have silver laced orpingtons and was wondering how to breed them to get double silver laced orps? I understand they need to lose the Columbian gene hiding in there. Would breeding a SLO hen to a pure black orp rooster create this other pattern?
I have 6 lovely Bielefelder pullets that are close to laying. Available for sale now. $40/each.

We are in southwest Virginia. We are NPIP certified, Salmonella Pullorum free, Avian Influenza clear. We are legal to ship...
It would only matter if I left the incubator in the guest room when I had guests.
I had been removing it from the room when guests stay over so I could have access to it. It's never been an issue for me.
If you are not inclined to build, what I use for breeding pens is a 10x10 dog pen, (cost $250), reinforced with hardware cloth all around the inside (4' high, 40'roll, about $60). I secure the harware cloth with wire, not zip ties. Then I lay welded wire across the bottom and top of the pen...
I just love photography, and I love those chickens even more. I thought you all could enjoy some lovely farm pics.

The turner IS loud! Funny, I didn't think so until I tried to sleep in the guestroom where I had the incubator. It woke me up every time it turned.
I do think this is the norm for this big of a turner/incubator. I was just surprised because my lititle turners are barely audible.
I've got a friend with a flock of Dalawares in Floyd. I just sold off my entire breeding flock a few weeks ago.
PM me for details and I can put you in touch with someone.
As for swaps...I live outside Blacksburg and have marans, bielefelders, legbars, isbars, and barnevelders. I might bring...
Today and tomorrow are hatch day here! I've got 6 bielefelder eggs, 12 delaware, and 12 dorking
About 12 have started to break out so far. I cant hear pips very well through the door.
So excited. I've hatched weekly for 4 weeks with every hatch getting better results. I just hate sewing...
