I received an order of four chicks from Meyer Hatchery a few days after my Wyandotte went broody. I put the chicks underneath her and she's been raising them like a champ for the last 2 weeks! About five days ago I let the family back in with my other 4 hens and everyone has been getting along...
I have a small backyard flock of 5 hens in San Diego. Because they're all getting up there in age I decided to get 4 chicks from Meyer Hatchery. The chicks arrived last Tuesday. Two days before my chicks got here I had a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte go broody. On Wednesday (the day after the...
I've had chickens for about 4 years now at my home in San Diego. The chickens are in a run we built on the side of our house. It is enclosed with chain-link fence and the coop is inside the run. The run is made up of three terraces because our house is on a slope. When we first built the run...
Had a disappointment today. Last June we bought four new breeds from Meyer. My Olive Egger (who is a gorgeous bird) started laying but unfortunately they're not olive eggs at all. More of a medium brown. The egg color was the reason we bought that breed so it's always a bummer when it doesn't...
These are two pictures of my 5 week old BLRW from Meyer Hatchery. For a while I thought she was looking like she was going to be black laced, but now the feathers are looking a bit blue in some areas. I thought I'd see what people with more experience with this breed thought her coloration was...
I thought I would upload another round of photos from my new set of Meyer girls. They are all 5 weeks old.
The first is Bertha, our Olive Egger. She looks exactly like a cross between our last year's Meyer Hatchery Blue Ameraucana and Black Copper Maran. Her feathers are a pretty blue gray...
I'll quote myself to say that after googling BLRW chicks and looking at other people's photos, I'm not concerned anymore. My chick just looks different than the ones on Meyer's website. Phew!
Okay, I've been looking at photos of blue laced red wyandotte chicks on various websites and I'm starting to wonder if Meyer sent me the wrong breed!! Mine seems way darker than any photo I've seen. Can someone help me out and let me know their thoughts on if this a BLRW or if not...what is it?!!!
My new order from Meyer Hatchery arrived today! I'll get better pics once they're more settled, but here's a peak at what we are adding to our flock.
Salmon Faverolle
Buff Orpington
Silver Laced Wyandotte
Silver Laced Polish
Blue Laced Red Wyandotte
Olive Egger

Haha...actually mypetchicken used Meyer hatchery. They're not their own hatchery, they're a middle man. If you order from them the box will say mypetchicken but you'll notice it is shipped from Polk, OH where Meyer is. Also, if you watch the movie on Meyer Hatchery's homepage you can see boxes...
I live in San Diego and ordered chicks from Meyer Hatchery last year. They were shipped out on Monday morning and arrived on Wednesday morning. All were alive and peeping. One was a bit sluggish but seemed fine by the next day and they are all five laying an assortment of egg colors.
And...
Meyer Hatchery started selling Olive Eggers this year. I'm getting a chick next week, but I thought I'd see if anyone has bought one from earlier in the year and might have pictures of what they are looking like. Even better, I was curious if anyone has gotten an egg yet to know how olive they...
