At that age, my cross break Ameraucana was already pretty bad and now at 6 weeks is even worse. Maybe if at 3.5 weeks yours isn't too bad that is a good thing!
You know it's too bad they don't have some sort of chicken "braces" to fix this sort of think. You know, kinda like the braces some of us have to wear as teenagers to straighten our teeth LOL
Thanks SpeckledHen... that really doesn't surprise me because of the way he acts. Plus he is lighter in color too. So I guess it's not 100% accurate if a Barred Rock has the "washed" dark front of the legs?
The Barred Rock in your profile pic is beautiful!!! Are the BR roos pretty nice in...
Her beak has gotten much worse.... But she's still eating and doing great otherwise. I have been mixing the starter with some water and putting it in a bowl for her to eat. Plus, she "deep feeds" from the feeder as well as another bowl I have for her in the coop. I just feel sorry for her...
I have two that I'm beginning to wonder if they are ROOS.... I purchased a dozen pullet day old chicks. I've heard that there is still a possibility when you buy pullets that you'll get a couple of roos.
The first one is a Barred Rock. The front of the feet are "washed" and dark. But the...
Thanks for the experience that you share! This is definitely the best place online for lots of helpful chicken information!
I am going to give them one biscuit this afternoon after I give them their fresh feed and water (I'll give them time to eat it first before their biscuit treat) and then...
Wow, and I've been worried about what I can give to my chickens... it sounds like just about anything!
I picked a few of the ends of bread off of my sandwich yesterday and gave it to them and I was kinda scared that the bread might "stop them up".... is it ok to feed them bread items?
kitchen scraps? My chicks are in their coop now (YEAH!!!) and I have been feeding them some treats from the garden like lettuce leaves and they love it.
But, I have a question -- what about some kitchen scraps? I have a couple of biscuits left over from breakfast yesterday that are kinda...
Well, i bought some in "bulk" when I purchased my chicks... but, it was just from a sack that said "FEED" on the outside. I kinda freaked because they didn't have a bag that had STARTER on it anywhere. The feed store people told me not to worry because it was starter and they thought it was...
awesome idea! I am definitely going to do this. We are working our on chicken coop and chicken run now. I'd like to get one of these started in the run while the new chicks (almost 4 weeks old) are getting used to their new chicken house (coop). Then, it would just about be ready for when...
We're in the process of building our coop too. The outside has been primed and then painted with exterior paint. I already have the inside primed -- next it will be painted with the exterior paint too. I just think it will be so much easier to clean later.
I chose the "Semi-Gloss" exterior....
I started my chicks with the white bulb (couldn't find a red one). I had a little trouble with pecking (especially from barred rock). I replaced the white bulb with a red bulb. It was immediately noticable -- the difference in the chicks was amazing! They were so much more relaxed and calm...
