I am in the same boat. I feel I will purchase Premier1 heat plate. From what I have Read the side panels where you snap the plate to as chicks grow break easily on the Brinsea. The Premier1 designi feel will last longer. I will feel safer with a heat plate. Just my opinion

I am wondering if you did build your coop and how the chickens faired during the winter. we live in Timmins and have an acre of land and are contemplating building a coop......our big concern is the cold winters we get as well.
