Welcome! How old are they?

Looked like a regular egg that had been cracked open; I found her eating it. The flock has oyster shell in the coop along with layer feed. I think she's been okay before now but I'm still trying to figure out who laid what so I'm not positive.

Okay, she just laid a shell-less egg. Was this what was supposed to be in the soft shell or was this another failed attempt at a complete egg?

Thanks again everyone. All is back inside where it belongs and she's resting in the chicken hospital ward with yogurt as a snack.

Ouch!! I've had a few double yolkers that I thought were big but nothing that compares to that! Extra treats for the girl who had to push that out!!

Thank you!! I gave a soft tug and on the second try it came out with a squish of whitish liquid. It pulled the red part out a lot more but once the white came loose thankfully the rest mostly retracted back in. It does look like a soft shell I think. Is there anything else I should watch for...

DH has spent all of the last 2 summers first building and then enlarging my coop for our current flock of 12. He has asked for this summer off. Can't say I blame him but that just means that next summer he'll have to double the size since I didn't get my fix this year!!
