Free Jake. 3 month old black Spanish

Hi all. Unfortunately we have to get rid of our 3 month old Jake. He’s a Spanish Black. Friendly towards humans but not my cattle dog and that’s a problem for the wife. I’m in Concord, Ca. He’s very healthy. We are keeping the female.

    My Black Spanish Turkeys

Fun to hang with while working in the yard. They are so curios. If i stop for a minute they like to peck at my fingers or shoes. Can’t keep them off my back deck at the moment. They are good flyers. I’m hoping when they get a little more size they won’t be able to fly over the deck gate. Lol

    My Black Spanish Turkeys

Male and female. 3 months. Getting big. They are really fun. Friendly and follow you everywhere. I actually enjoy them a bit more then the hens. Only draw back is they don’t go into the run and roost at night like the hens. We gotta put them away every night.

Turkeys are a month old now

So far so good my 5 turkeys are doing great. I have two Buff Orpingtons in the run with them. The Turkeys are much friendlier and love to be held. They fly a lot. They are definitely going to be a handful when I let them out of the run into the back yard. I have 8 hens, so I'm going to wait...

Looking for Turkeys poults to buy

We got heritage turkeys. We got 2 bourbon reds, 2 black and 1 chocolate. We ordered 4 but they had one left and he gave her to us for free. They’re doing good so far. They’re outside. We bought 2 buff Orpington to go along with them because I heard they will teach them to eat and drink...

    Feeling like a total idiot

Wow that sucks. Sorry it happened to you and your chicks. I guess lesson learned. I bet you do a good job fortifying the outdoor brooder now. Same type has happened to me in the past. I now have 5 turkey poults and two Buff Orpingtons outside and they are 2 weeks old. I live in California...

Sorry for the late reply. But I did manage to get 5 turkey poults. They are doing great. I'm in the Concord, Ca area. I had to go to Santa Rosa but that wasn't too bad. So far so god. I got mine when they were a few days old. They are about two weeks old now.

Turkeys with my Hens in Northern California

Hi, I was interested in adding a few female turkeys to my flock of 8 hens. I have plenty of free range room. I reside in the East Bay of California. My main concern is that Black Head disease. Does anyone have any experience with raising these animals together in this area? Is this disease...

    Poopie butt

I'm talking mainly about my adult hens. Sometimes they get the poopie butt for no reason.

    Letting chicks free roam

What age do you let the chicks free roam. Mine are about 9 weeks old and I let them out today in the backyard with the big hens. Neighborhood cats or hawks would be my main concern. I've never had a problem with the full grown hens with ant predators.

    Poopie butt

What are your best ways to deal with poopie butt. Got a few hens that look like they need cleaning. I sometimes cut out the clumps if it gets too big. Also are there any preventative measures. Thanks in advance

    Introducing chicks to pre-existing flock

Put them in the coop at night when they are sleeping, sometimes they wont even know they had new ones introduced in the AM.
