My new Cuckoo Marans opinions please!!

@ Illia: thank you for your honest reply. I was already thinking they didn't look as good as some pics I had seen of other Cuckoos so I'm not surprised. Crossed with Birchen is not very pleasing but as mentioned before I have mostly cross/Hinz57s anyway. I knew from the get go that they are...

Thank you for your Replies. I'm slowly trying to collect all 12 colours of marans. This is a hard feat to do here in Canada. I do have a Blue Copper and Wheaten roos but no girls for them. These hens will be placed with the layer flock and the blue copper roo. I'll be hatching out what eggs I...

Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Quote: Ok I have a question about breeding crosses. When ever I think of breeding pure I think you would need to start with pure. Is it ok to cross the colors as long as it's still a Marans. When it comes to his off spring since you need the feathered shanks would you only keep/breed the ones...

Quote: It indicative of Penedesenca blood in the mix, right? Nothing wrong with having a flock of awesome dark layers with every fault imaginable though. Ok Like I said I'm really new to the Marans breed so can I get an explanation on the "Penedesenca blood" thing please ??I really have...
