Hey that might have been me that asked that, at least I was thinking it every time I looked at your avatar! What a cutie! With that big comb and wattles going on, he should be one macho roo. Keep us updated on him!

Nope.....the last 2 just hatched about 1/2 hr ago. I've been trying to load those darn baby pics all day.
Trying it again right now.

2 of Gnarles babies hatched.......they were both previously refridgerated eggs. I love trying to hatch eggs out the fridge!

Total chicks hatched out of eggs that made it to lockdown- 14 out of 21 Delawares, 3 for 3 Olive Eggers, 6 out of 8 Welsummers and 5 out of 6 Marans.

Sounds like a great hatch! Congrats!!

Thanks Debbi, he is a cute little guy. If only he would hold still I could get a better shot lol.

Pink: I can't wait to see gnarles babies! I had much better luck with the eggs I refrigerated for about 4 days then I did with the eggs I stored at room (inside the air conditioned house) temperature this summer.

Hi all It says that pics are welcome and I'm new to Marans I would love to get every colour of this breed I just love them and there dark eggs so much. I only have 2 roosters A wheaten and a Blue Copper and only the blue is of breeding age right now. I have some Black copper hens on the way and hope to get some wheaten and Blu copper hatching eggs this spring. After that I'll look into getting the other colours it was hard enough finding what I did here in Alberta Canada. I just hope my favourite boy is up to standard can anyone help me?

He is young still so no tail yet. It also wont help that the branch is in the way but aside from that??...........

New Hatcher ~ Hello, and welcome to the thread! I'm not sure his ear lobe is white, to me, it looks like the flash of the camera may have washed it out. Look at his saddle feathers, you see the glare that makes the feathers look white. So, new hatcher, what color are his ear lobes? Does he have shank/toe feathering? I think he is a nice boy, and should fill out more as he ages.

Try to get a better, full profile and frontal pic of him, in the natural sunlight.
