Thanks for the advice! Sorry I haven't been on for a while...I'm becoming a believer in the garlic myself, I've had a lot of sucess with it mixed with cayenne powder, and not so much with the herbal stuff. Just lost another chicken last week to gape worm, I cannot believe all the parasites! I...
Hello All, in Palm Beach county and wondering if anyone is selling hatching eggs or chicks for some heritage heavy breeds (our neighbors all have large chicken eating dogs:) ...I was specifically looking for New Hamshire, and Black Australorps, but any prolific layer would be great! Thanks!
Thank you...I'm puzzled! I'd just think by now I'd have caught something out of the ordinary! Ok...I'll keep a look out though! Scouted their yard for nests today and didn't find any, even kept them cooped for a few days in a row...weird! Thanks for the input!!
Thanks, so what you're saying its not unusual for them to lay a couple eggs then stop? It's not cold here either, I should probably mention we're in FL.
Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue...I have a Easter egger who is now 33 weeks old, she was the first in my flock to mature (unusual since she has a sister and 3 others that hatched with her, we got them from a friend when they were 3 months old). Odd thing is for the last 9 weeks...
Thank you! Very interesting! From what I understand, Splash Wheaten meet the requirements for accepting a color, though they're not one, what do we do to change this? I think they're beautiful! I have a couple splash pullets as well and was going to breed them basically for blue eggs, but down...
This is fantastic! I have neen using garlic and cayenne but its a chore to mince all that garlic for as often as it seems to need done, how often and in what quantity do you give it to your chickens?
Interesting about the moon too! I'll have to try it!
I just ordered some Black Walnut Hulls...
Here's our Splash Wheaten roo, I have been told he's not up to standard though. Any elaboration on this would be welcomed. I just lurk on here to learn really! Signature Feathers had some good info on their webpage when I was looking.
Speaking of wormwood, have you ever used it for your chooks as a wormer, and what dosage would you start with? Mine battle worms here constantly, and I can't afford the long egg withdraws with as frequently as they get them! Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!
I think that is unusual...though I've only known 2 Wheaten roos (I own one splash wheaten) and my experience is that they're incredibly docile and take great care of the ladies...call them over for food and water, crows for hawks, even watchs them lay sometimes. I wanted one after reading good...
I use cayenne powder, about 2to tablespoons for 12 birds along with one freshly minced clove of garlic per bird. Hope this helps! 3 days in a row as a prevenative and 10 days in a row for active infestation with symptoms. Hope this helps and you haven't given up on this thread:)
