Prevention / Cures for Tapeworm or any worms really

Thanks for the advice! Sorry I haven't been on for a while...I'm becoming a believer in the garlic myself, I've had a lot of sucess with it mixed with cayenne powder, and not so much with the herbal stuff. Just lost another chicken last week to gape worm, I cannot believe all the parasites! I...

Regular egg laying behavior for several weeks but only 2 eggs??

Thank you...I'm puzzled! I'd just think by now I'd have caught something out of the ordinary! Ok...I'll keep a look out though! Scouted their yard for nests today and didn't find any, even kept them cooped for a few days in a row...weird! Thanks for the input!!

Regular egg laying behavior for several weeks but only 2 eggs??

Hoping someone can shed some light on this issue...I have a Easter egger who is now 33 weeks old, she was the first in my flock to mature (unusual since she has a sister and 3 others that hatched with her, we got them from a friend when they were 3 months old). Odd thing is for the last 9 weeks...

Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thank you! Very interesting! From what I understand, Splash Wheaten meet the requirements for accepting a color, though they're not one, what do we do to change this? I think they're beautiful! I have a couple splash pullets as well and was going to breed them basically for blue eggs, but down...

Here's our Splash Wheaten roo, I have been told he's not up to standard though. Any elaboration on this would be welcomed. I just lurk on here to learn really! Signature Feathers had some good info on their webpage when I was looking.

Comprehensive list of poisonous plants and trees

Speaking of wormwood, have you ever used it for your chooks as a wormer, and what dosage would you start with? Mine battle worms here constantly, and I can't afford the long egg withdraws with as frequently as they get them! Any advice would be helpful! Thanks!

    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I think that is unusual...though I've only known 2 Wheaten roos (I own one splash wheaten) and my experience is that they're incredibly docile and take great care of the ladies...call them over for food and water, crows for hawks, even watchs them lay sometimes. I wanted one after reading good...

    Naturally Worming Chickens

I use cayenne powder, about 2to tablespoons for 12 birds along with one freshly minced clove of garlic per bird. Hope this helps! 3 days in a row as a prevenative and 10 days in a row for active infestation with symptoms. Hope this helps and you haven't given up on this thread:)

    FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

I think it's a baby black ratsnake...just ran into the problem of not knowing how far different the infants look from the adults...I killed a baby black racer because it had markings like a ratlesnake and was coiling and attacking :( Lesson learned!

    Corid Withdrawal Time

Yes, you are correct...according to what I've researched, the amount of corid found in the egg is less than the usda recommends for consumption. After 10 days there will be no tracable amount found in eggs (if my memory serves me right!).

I actually cheated and mixed in two bags of PDZ and one or moreish bags of sand...cut cost a little and seems to work the same so far no stink!

Poop board convert *warning-graphic/gross poop pictures*

I have 2a parellel roosts but my whole floor is PDZ, not a big enough coop for poop boards. I did my roosts 11inches apart and heard to leave a foot clearance on either side, I think a foot is a lot but if you have the space, why not? That'd be roughly a 36 inch board if you have an inch for...
