We have 6 golden sexlinks, 1 is a rooster, Klondike, the top hen is currently Sienna, she's just about the sweetest thing alive, then it's Apples, Jacky, Flo, and at the very bottom our sweety Daphne.
We recently got 3 new pullets, two Austrolorpe Rhode Island Red mixes (Lilly and Nora) and a...
So, I'm wanting to get pheasants, but there are a few things I don't know about them.
Firstly, would red-goldens, lady amherst, ect., pheasants survive in New York? Cold winters and hot summers?
Also, would they get along alright with out ducks and chickens, we have one austrolorpe rooster, 7...
As others are saying you have one drake, and one hen! Mallards develope the same way as Rouens ( I think?) And our drakes got their green and such after about 12-14 weeks...
We adopted some mixes from our neighbors, 2 are austrolorpe/RIR mixes, and are deffiantly hens, but one, a barred-rock/RIR mix, has turned out to be a rooster. We already have one rooster, a golden coment, and our mix has recently started crowing and attempting to make little chickens, our GC...
In the book we read (searching for book) the cayuga was listed in watched breeds due to the fact that they only lay 100 eggs a year (or such). I love our cayugas, though for some reason our drake has a yellow beak, but is deffiantly a drake and deffiantly a cayuga (got them from the Mcmurry...
Muscovy ducks creep me out, if only because of the skin around their eyes...other wise I like them, thought I don't have any myself...I'm bugging my mom to let me show my cayuga drake Domis in the fair at some point...he'd be a winner for sure
Our hens are all the same age, but one of them (whos at the bottom of the pecing order) hasn't started laying yet, unlike the other 4. Her comb was pail pink, but when she's happy it turns bright red and she acts like she wants to lay, I'm think it's possibly to do with their mood.
We raised our chickens and ducks together, and they all got along and became a strongly bonded flock, so when we let them out for the first time, the ducks naturally went in the tank we prepared for them, the chickens, seeing their flockmates in the water, decided they must swim as well, and...
Duckluv: They are really gorgeous ducks and really sweet
ejctm: That's a good point, Cayuga's really don't lay a lot of eggs, and are big meat ducks...
We have three 3 month old hens who we recently brought into the flock, when they are outside with the older hens they all get along, but will they get along locked in the coop together? We've been keeping them outside in a crate at night, afraid the older hens may peck them to death, our rooster...
Hello, we have 3 gorgeous Cayugas, 2 hens and 1 drake. They are simply beautiful and really sweet (thought a little shy). We read about them and found out that they are a threantend breed, and not many people breed them anymore, I was curious as to why it is that nobody breeds them much anymore...
