Leg Problem with my broad breasted white

Thanks for the help. It doesn't appear to be straddle leg, though. And there is no visible problem with the leg. It was hoping that it would correct itself, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.

Leg Problem with my broad breasted white

One of my three-week-old broad breasted white turkeys has stopped walking on one of his legs. He holds the leg in the air and hops on the other. It looks as though he can't even stretch out the toes of the foot in order to stand on it. He has been doing this for about a week. He still eats and...

    Turkey Feed Question

Those are beautiful bird, so 30% protein must be doing something correctly. I see that Purina FlockRaiser has 20% protein. So Purina does recommend 30% until the birds are 8 weeks old, and then a reduction to 20%. I'll take that into consideration. Thanks for your help, everyone!

    Turkey Feed Question

I am raising a few two-week old broad breasted white turkeys. I bought Purina Game Bird Starter, thinking I was doing the right thing. This starter has 30% protein, though. Is this the correct feed? Where I live, I can only get this game bird starter or chicken starter, nothing specifically...

Hatchery where I can buy day old turkeys right now?

I'm in Mississippi, so I'll probably need someone to ship to me. I really wanted fewer than 15, but I'll check out Meyer. Thanks!

Hatchery where I can buy day old turkeys right now?

I see that most hatcheries stop selling turkeys in July. Do any of you know of a hatchery where I can still order? Also, I would like to purchase 10 or fewer birds, and I don't see any hatcheries shipping that small of an amount. Thanks for your help.

What are these black bugs flying around my chickens?

The pesticide I used was permethrin. It appeared to work, but I haven't been able to see the chickens today yet. You do dilute this in water. This didn't seem to bother the chickens at all and the bugs seemed to disappear yesterday evening. I did also spray around the coop. Mostly the bugs...

What are these black bugs flying around my chickens?

I live in Jackson County, so I'm not too far from you. Today, I sprayed a pesticide on the backs of my chickens with a pump up sprayer. This seems to have worked. I don't like using chemicals, but I had to do something. I forget the name of the pesticide, but it is something that you can buy...

What are these black bugs flying around my chickens?

I'm in South Mississippi, so I'm not too far from East Texas. Are there any organic solutions to these pigeon flies or whatever they are?

What are these black bugs flying around my chickens?

My white rock chickens are "infested" with these flying black bugs that are flying around the necks of the chickens. The chickens are constantly eating these bugs that are flying around and landing on the chickens. I thought perhaps these were lice, but from reading in this forum, I found that...

    Weird: Dead Rooster in Nestingbox

Any ideas on what happened to my rooster? Imagine my suprise when I came home yesterday to find my white rock rooster (around 8 months old) dead in one of my nesting boxes. He was a very active rooster with no signs of sickness. There was no blood. Though his legs seemed to be affected by...

    Does Your Rooster Do This?

Thanks for your answers. There definitely is room to roost, and I've seen the rooster flap his wings. There doesn't seem to be any mice or anything that would disturb him. The roosts seem to be sturdy, but perhaps he is trying to gain his balance. This is the dominant rooster in my flock and...

    Does Your Rooster Do This?

I have a white rock rooster that crows almost nonstop throughout the night while he roosts. As far as I can tell there is never an extended time when he is not crowing. Also, very often you can hear him very loudly beating his wings while he roosts. It is amazingly loud. I have two roosters but...

Looking for Processing facility in South Mississippi

I'm not sure where you can get your birds processed, but how many do you have and what breed(s) do you have? I process my own, but I never do more than two or three at a time. I also live in Vancleave.
