I have just noticed that some of my hens seem itchy. I can’t see bugs on them, but there are feathers under where they roost.
does anyone have any idea ofwhat this could be and how to treat just General bugs that could be bothering them?
Oh my goodness! Ha! @“Eggcontinent” but that’s crazy, I’ve never heard of that, but it makes sense.
Thank you so much for replying!! to lend credence to your idea that she just couldn’t hold it, I have one chicken who regularly lays two eggs in one day!
Thanks again!!!!
Hi all! My lovey ladies have been laying for almost 2 years now and all is peachy! But today I found an egg in their hen house under where they roost at night and not in the nesting boxes (which were clean and not full of eggs). They have never laid an egg in any other places than their nesting...
Thanks so much for answering!
I am pretty sure the scouts are from a playhouse (that the bees have almost destroyed) which is about 12 yards from my chicken coop.
About 2 years ago, I tried everything to get them to move away from the playhouse, to no avail so we just let them have it. I’m...
Hey y’all! We have had our chicken coop for a little over a year now and yesterday I noticed some Carpernter bee “scouts” in my chicken yard!!! Our coup is not painted but sealed with some industrial strength wood sealer. Should I still be concerned about the possibility of those pesky bees...
No two chickens of the same breed is such a good idea to really get to the bottom of who lays what egg. Haha I had no idea when I got my chicks that I would be so obsessed with figuring out which eggs come from which chicken!

2) First egg was laid Sept. 27th (four months ago)
3) The hens are fed 16% protein, Scratch and...
Thank you for answering me! So sorry for getting back to you so late!!!! But I have 2 Barred Plymouth Rocks and 3 Buff Orpingtons. 5 eggs this morning!! So here’s to hoping the laying gets more regular. Down here in Louisiana we have been having CRAZY weather, one day it’s HOT & HUMID and the...
4!!! Only 4!! I have 5 hens (who just started laying) and we were getting 5 eggs every day for about 5 days!!! But for the past 3 days I’ve only been getting 4.. I’m actually getting a little worried.
Hey y’all! I Posted a thread about my newly, “Free Range” set up in this section (asking general questions about what they needed in their newly fenced in chicken sanctuary) and the conversation quickly turned into Chickens VS Grass!!! And then to the Attacks from above!! It is imperative that...
