I just had a chick with the same thing except it was both feet up to the ankle joint and I had to cull him...I treid the splits and hand fed him for 24 hours but he couldn't even get around by himself...
Your's looks better then mine and I hope the splint works for you...
and you are...
We have 4 chicks...
I have the small round tin feeder and I wanted to know if I have to dump the entire contense everyday to put new mash in it?..
seems to be a big waste since they only eat off the top....
thanks
Ok so far I think I have it figured out...
# 2 is Buff Orp
# 3 is Rhode Island Red
#4 is Black sex link which I am pretty sure is a female...based on light feather markings...
Still don;t know what #1 is....I am thinking Brown leghorn but not really sure....
Can someone figure out #1 for me?...
I can tell you that all except 1 are females...
The black 1 we are not sure of yet...but other are girls...does that help?
And I thought that asking for people to name them would help me but I am more confused then ever now!!...LOL...
I will tell you what I was told...
#1 & #2 are same chick...
It is with a very heavy heart that I must report that I ahve lost all but 1 of my first hatch...
All was wel and good right up to day 18...all 10 were moving when candled...1 hatched on day 19 and I had 5 shakers all day on day 19 and 20...As of this am I still had 1 mover and he was peeping...
Ok so I taped the toes on a piece of cardboard and bandaids but its not working...the foot seems to be turned in at the "ankle joint" if you will, it's not just the toes....
HELP!!!!..WHAT DO I DO?....he is getting weaker and can't move anywhere and the other chicks are stepping all over...

He is in the brooder now and is trying really hard to move around but he just can't get his toes out from under his feet!!...
My new chick that just hatched last nigh can't get his feet out from under him...he is standing on them but the toes are curled under the foot and he can't walk...
What do I do?..
Ok so here we are, morning 21...We had 1 hatch on day 19 and 1 hatch lastnight...the one from last night is having some trouble I believe...
There is something on his back end...it looks like a red buld of something...its where the stringy things were attached when it came out...
and it also...
Ok so here it is the morning of day 20 and NOTHING!!!...What the heck?..
Guess maybe yesterday was luck the 1 came early?....
When can I take out the first little guy?
