This is Phoebe. I got her for Torie for Christmas. She is a sweet little one. She is easy to catch and fun to hold.
A little update on Phoebe: On Saturday, January 2, while I was working on the garden spot that has Phoebe's hutch, Phoebe was out in the yard and so was our dog Allie. Allie I...
This is Licorice, my Black Star hen who I obtained by trading one of my Americuana pullets for from another BYC comrade. He was so generous and gave me two for one. This one and another one, a Wheaton Americauna who should start laying hopefully around the end of August. Licorice is laying one...

Our only son is currently serving a mission for our church in New York. We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of...
The Pallet Palace begins to take shape.
It all started with some great used wood I got from my work. There was some specialized pallets that I retrieved, hauled home, and had some great help from friends to take apart and get the nails out.
It is what had been used for some heavy duty...
Does anyone in the Peoria area have any fertile eggs available? I have a die hard broody hen right now.
Please feel free to call me at 602-625-7946
Thanks.
Carl
I have a bantam hen who has been laying a few eggs, about the size of a robin egg. There has never been one with any yolk inside, just what little bit of white that can be in such a small egg.
Will there eventually be eggs with yolk in them?
Thanks.

Great thanks, although one part of the country is recovering from a massive earthquake followed by a week of aftershocks. Enjoy your...

Mahonri!
I see you are up too! I have been asleep but am having one of my typical nights of being up 2 or 3 times. My PD medication at work!
I guess I could market my yolkless eggs couldn't I?
Carl
I have a small cross breed bantam that started to lay recently. The eggs are very small, about the size of a quarter. I have yet to find one with any yolk, only a small amount of white. How long until I might start getting a complete egg?
Thanks.

I had awhile ago the same thing happen to a silkey. She was in bad shape. I got some of that purple spray medication from the feed store and would keep it on it. Keep her isolated and warm. Give her some tender care and she could very well make it through. Mine really bounced back and...
Just a suggestion to help keep the chickens cooler in this heat: When I turn them loose to free range on the lawn in the late afternoon/early evening, I turn the sprinkler on and let it run through the three stations. It wets the grass and gives them the chance to "cool their heels" and pick at...
