    I got one like that when my hens were new to laying - then a few double yokers mixed with shell-less eggs (yuck!) and now they are regular as can be.

    My son got an air soft rifle for his birthday. It shoots round plastic pellets the size and shape of BBs. Will my chickens be harmed if they eat theese? My kid is hoping to set up a hay bale and have some fun, but I am worried about my hens (who have the run of the whole yard) getting sick.

    This is my hen Bernadette as a baby cuddling in my son's hoodie- she and her chick pals would have "socialization hour" (as my boys called it) and we put towels on our laps and play with them in our living room. Anyone that has done this knows what the towels are for!

    Big question, why did all of you new chicken owners get chickens?

    My husband grew up on a mini-ranch and had chickens around all through his childhood. One day he came home with two banty hens, and I was hooked! Alas, the banties did not work out, but last spring we got chicks and my kids and I get a lot of enjoyment from our now full sized hens (and eggs).

    Rainy Days

    I was just about to post the same question! I have my first hens free ranging in Rancho Cucamonga (southern California) and I keep seeing them grazing across the yard in a steady rain. I guess they'll be okay, but I wish they would go in thier hen house!

    My three hens started laying eggs about three weeks ago, and give me an egg almost every day (each). I hate to complain, but they are on the small side.
