Their both girls I do know that when you switch them to a smaller cage they get cranky and take it out on one another but Pudgy my elder female she loves company and Pidgy is also calming down I can fool with her cage and she doesnt try to hit her head she just runs to Pudgy and snuggles up on...
After a long 3 weeks of waiting for Pidgy to become full grown and Trying to tame her(Which isn't doing well), I decided that since Pidgy has her full mature feathers in she can be reunited with Pudgy my elder quail with no chasing or pecking and so far it's been successful (About one day) Pidgy...
When quail hop around in the cage that mean's they are happy, my quail chick and older one hop around and on to my hand and start singing when I put their sand box in their pen. It's such a rewarding feeling knowing they are happy and like you. xD
Yeah I think it's that too because I originally had 4 quails but 3 were pecking Pudgy's eyes so I let the rest go in my yard (I still get eggs!) They were wild and couldn't be tamed always hitting their heads on the roof whenever i went to feed them/walk by them ,except pudgy so i kept her as a pet.
No their both quail of the same species the chick has her adult feathers coming in so she's off the heat lamp for now and my room is a constant 72-78 degrees she doesnt shiver and she's alert and active (Both are Coturnix) I read that with quails that aren't mature yet and put with other adults...
I don't get it Dx Pudgy (6 month old quail) was cuddling with Pidgy (1 week old chick) last night but this morning I saw Pudgy chasing her out of her water and food dish, I dunno what's wrong, Their cage is 4 Sq ft and they have a igloo to hide in which the chick seems to love for her naps since...
No most coturnix females will have dots on their chest there is the rare case of females not to have them but again thats rare another way to tell a male from a female is that the males are smaller and the females are bigger you can also feel above their vent that the males will be dense and the...
There's two things to this is he chasing the females trying to climb on them If so that's how they mate and they will hold onto the back of their heads to hold on, If he's just chasing and pulling feathers out/ pecking you need to sperate him as so as you can or cull him he probably feels...
Hi I'm back, After I let go some of the other quail on my farm I noticed my last one I kept as a pet (She's extremely affectionate and loves my new pet bunny like its her friend) She gets lonely when I leave the room and she constantly calls so I got her a baby quail chick since she was in semi...
I woke up this morning and found my 1 female quail stuck in her food dish I mean like ALL THE WAY IN! I'm so scared that if she has been stuck like that all night or not but one of her toes are purpleish black I just too her out and feed her and gave her water drinking for a total of 20 already...
All of mine are coturnix I dont even know if she will she's very scared and I know there is a normal for it but for her its like her daily personatily she doesnt even lay eggs anymore because she's stressing herself out with it and thank you for the info I have a medium rabbit hutch that I use...
Indeed I lost one of my quails today while I was cleaning her sand out my very skittish one which is also the youngest has flown the coop right passed me. I'm thinking about getting a male for them now since the others arent so bad to handle but I want to hatch them I think the one that escaped...
