    Help! EE hurt leg :(

Thanks. I separated her from the others. They didn't seem to be picking on her, but if they ran around chasing each other they didn't mind running her over. >.> Mean girls.

    Help! EE hurt leg :(

I don't know how, but my 4 week old Easter Egger hurt her leg somehow. She is barely walking on it, it's that bad. She's eating and drinking as far as I've seen, nothing else seems wrong. What should I do? I don't see any apparent injuries either.

Finally got my babies! ?'s and pics!

It seems like scattering food and settling down helped a lot. They are doing well- sleeping on and off it seems, probably tired after that trip! I see them nip a little, but it seems playful, and they all sleep cuddled together. And I haven't seen my buff orpington nibble the others feathers...

Finally got my babies! ?'s and pics!

Just got my babies this morning from MPC- all 5 were in good health, and energetic. I got 1 buff orpington, 1 australorp, 1 easter egger 2 Wyandottes- one gold laced, one silver laced. Things are going well, they seem happy in their brooder, drinking and eating. My only question is my Buff...

    Starting to think chickens

This is actually a good point. I talked to my husband, and we both decided it would be better for us to upgrade the garden shed. We've even decided to make it a project and do what we can on our own. But it did seem silly to buy a coop and then renovate the shed later. I was thinking more "I...

    Starting to think chickens

I actually found it on ebay, which worries me a tad. I'm thinking standard size. I don't think bantams are cold weather hardy enough. (and I'm wrong, someone tell me!)

    Starting to think chickens

Hi! It's been awhile, I'm sure no one remembers me. But that's ok, I wasn't here long. I was thinking about chickens last year, but was living in a rented house, and then we were houes hunting all summer. We have a lovely house now, with almost an acre of land now, and so I'm thinking...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Hi again! I'm in the process of buying a house, and while it's not technically legal to have chickens, I'm going to get some anyway and just hope for the best. If everything goes well, I'll have a little under an acre here in CNY, already fenced in and a cute little shed that just told me to...

poll: are you legal or an outlaw?

Looks like I'll be an outlaw. I'm in the process of buying a house, with a good amount of land, but sadly, there's no chickens allowed. Of course, the codes officer I talked to said I should just get them anyways, and just hope I don't get caught. He told me this off the record. I'm pretty...

I'm sorry HappyHensNY- that's terrible. Something to consider before I get my chickens...I didn't really think of predators. I'm about an hour West from you.

    Anyone hatching in June?

I might be...I'm trying to decide if I want to hatch a few or not. I really want to try!

Quote: Yep, I'm up in Little Falls for right now. My husband and I are looking into mortgages right now, hoping to move into our own place this summer. Trying to learn where it is and isn't legal to have chickens, not that that would 100% rule out a place, but it would be nice. Do you have...

    NY chicken lover!!!!

Ahh, they are so cute, Chicken Stalker. I started calling the neighborhoods around me, asking about the laws regarding keeping chickens. Of course, no one was around, and despite the people I did talk to saying they'd call me this morning, the phone hasn't rang. *Shrug* Oh well. If we buy a...

Quote: Come move to my area of Gansevoort. I just went on a 5 mile walk and it's like walking through a zoo.. First you get to the cows, then the pond with the muscovy ducks, then more cows, then palomino horses, then assorted chickens and geese, more cows, more horses, alpacas (!) and yet...
