    Hatch Rate from Shipped Eggs

    Today and yesterday I expect my 60 shipped eggs to hatch, to my surprise this afternoon I'd had 42 hatch which I thought was rather a lot considering they had been posted. I was just wondering what the average hatch rate for shipped eggs is and whether my hatch rate is above average?

    I have 5 pekin bantams hens running with 4 jersey giant hens, 3 Vorwerk hens and a maran cockerel. They all get on fine with one another!

    I have just brought into some gold pencilled hamburgs, they are always the first to come and see me! They are fairly flighty, but lay a nice sized egg. My Hamburgs only really like being with my other Hamburgs, they especially don't like being with my Vorwerks!

    Last Friday I had two chicks hatch, the white one came out of a light Sussex egg, nut I'm not sure what the black one is, it came out of a very, very dark egg. This is them: Can anyone identify the black and can anyone also identify the gender of both chciks?
