    How to wash a sticky chick?

    One of my chicks has hatched and just will not fluff up. It's feathers have dried as a sort of hard casing onits head and back. How do I go about washing it?

    Hi has anybody ever used a covatutto 16 incubator? I've borrowed one and have started incubating my eggs today, but the person I borrowed it from hasn't had much success with it before - she only had one chick hatch. Was this her bad luck or is the covatutto unreliable? Thanks

    Lonesome chick

    I had only one chick hatch successfully and he is doing fine. He follows me round which is really cute! I worry about him living on his own though, when I am at school. Will he be ok? I have put a teddy in which he sleeps huddled up next to for comfort. Is there anything else I can do?

    Perches

    What age can I introduce a perch into my brooder? My chick loves to perch on my finger so I thought I should set one up in his box, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it is bad for their feet when they are young. He is about 6 days old by the way.

    Thankyou so much for your answers. I have made up a watery porridgey sugary thing for him to eat and he started pecking at it! Its the first bit of progress so far. He is sleeping again now - I think it was quite an effort to peck, bless him!

    Bleeding egg

    One of my chicks has hatched (and he is adorable!) but he blundered round and trod one of my other pipped eggs. His toe went through some of the membrane and now the membrane is bleeding. Do you think the egg will be ok? has anybody else has this happen? please help

    Yay! I woke up this morning and one egg has pipped! I cant believe it I thought they were all dead! I can see its beak poking around, it's really cute!
