We hatched him from McMurray eggs. Are you sure you don't need another roo? Really? We're probably going to be up in Mesa next Sunday.

Dang it, my suspicions that the Partridge Penedesenca chick we hatched is a roo (large comb, I think pointy feathers) are looking to be right, that baby was up trying to crow this morning. He is about 7/8 weeks old. Anyone want a Partridge Penedesenca roo? He is going to be beautiful, but we...

Thanks Sonoran Silkies for the tips on desert chick raising. We now have two, the Partridge and a White Silkie. At least we had two last night, this morning I only saw one, but then it nestled under Mama and I couldn't see anything at all so maybe the Partridge was still underneath sleeping.

I hope to be checking back here often, looking for tips on raising hens in this heat. Off to go do my rain dance in hopes...

There is a Hen House in Arizzzzzzonnnnnnnna

They call it the Palace a Poule... The heat in Arizona is obviously frying my brain cells as well as eggs as I'm a little goofy. With thanks to Nifty Chicken for the template: (1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I've been eating eggs and occasionally a bit of...
