    Calling all Penedesencas Owners/Breeders

I ordered 5 straight run from Privitt and 4 out of 5 were Roos. My boys had very short tails and even now at 3 months old they are kinda stubby tailed. I do have a question about white legs and yellow legs ....I have 1 that has yellow legs. Is he a cross? Or can they have either?

    High Desert, California!!

Welcome, You will find alot of info here. I was a lurker for about 18 months before I signed up with an account. Dont forget our winters can be as bad as our summers, your chickens will need shelter from the cold, wind and snow..... not usually a heated place but a place to get out of the...

What tricks does your horse do?

Quote: 6. Punt your fortex feed tub all round the front paddock, preferably to somewhere I cannot easily find it. 7. REmove your blanket without undoing any closures or damaging anything whatsoever, possibly by dematerializing then re-materializing. 8. Take off each others' fly masks, run...

A hard horse decision-what to do??

Sorry I’m jumping in here a little bit late but here are a few things for you to think about that may help you answer your own question…. Ok it costs the same to feed, shoe, vaccinate, etc every horse …nice and… not so nice …. And I always want the nice stuff!!! What is it that makes you like...

    High Desert, California!!

. I'm with you "proud desert rat" I even love my dirt roads. Seems only people that "have to drive on them" go by the house. So that reduces traffic to just my neighbors. I did live over by the 138/2 area about 15 years ago and it was good.

    High Desert, California!!

Hello everyone... So glad for a High Desert thread!!!!.... I'm in Oak Hills, been in the desert for about 20 years now and even though it has grown and changed, there is still open space. I have to agree with Desertbird ...there is nothing like streaching out and not touching you neighbor...

Had 5" this morning and got another 1" or so throughout this morning. Mine free range our entire yard. So 2 were in the barn this morning and 2 in their coop. 1 laid her egg and went to the barn. The other was still there until a minute ago when I gave them some scratch. She decided she...

    Handgun Question

Boxers or Briefs? Everyone likes something different. However I would say shotgun in this case. I have been raised around firearms and been in law enforcement for 22 years. We had a coyote problem where a pack ate my sheep and took one of my dogs. And unless you are going to actively call...

How do you vacation when you have chickens?

I always get a house sitter that way I know my house won't get broken into and someone will be there if a water pipe breaks or horse hangs a foot in the fence etc. I pay $30 a night and that is cheap insurance!!! Co-workers sometime have kids or young people still living at home that are happy...

    Winter Tips

I read on a diff thread that scratch is a "hot feed". So my question is how long from the time they eat it until they get peak heat from metabolizing it? I know horses get their peak heat after 6-8 hours so evening feed time becomes important to make them the warmest at the coldest part of...

Which would be more practical for a new chicken keeper.

Hahahhaa. You have pets with personality. Because that is how you raised them. When people put a puppy in the yard and throw food once a day they get nothing more than a dog. When you interact with them and learn from them and teach them you have a different relationship.... And yes it is then...
