    Chicken names?

    I named the Chickens I got last year 1201, 1202, 1203 and so on. This year, I'm going with 1301, 1302, 1303 through 1312. I just keep it simple.

    Opossums

    Caught an opossum last night with tuna from a can! Have been trying bread with no luck.... the tuna did the trick 2nd night out! P.S. Chicken did work twice. The night before I got the trap and one night I did not set the trap. Now I have no Silkies.

    Maybe you can put a cardboard partition on the main roost and put them there at night so they get used to the proper roost and are shielded from the big girls. Do you have a rooster? When he takes interest, he will add them to his flock. They may just remain flock buddies for a long time...

    I think it takes closer to 6 months before you can sex silkies. I'm at 21 weeks and have no hint what mine are.

    The best suggestion I've herd is a totally dark blacked out interior. Good ventilation would still be needed. The extra dark might slow down egg production. If the blackout did not stop the crowing -- maybe it would muffle the sound a little. Anybody have experience trying this? My current...
