Caught an opossum last night with tuna from a can! Have been trying bread with no luck.... the tuna did the trick 2nd night out!

Maybe you can put a cardboard partition on the main roost and put them there at night so they get used to the proper roost and are shielded from the big girls.
Do you have a rooster? When he takes interest, he will add them to his flock.

The best suggestion I've herd is a totally dark blacked out interior. Good ventilation would still be needed. The extra dark might slow down egg production.
