Hello, my chicken has a pale comb, is extremely lethargic, has a rock hard and seemingly full crop, and is skinnier than normal I believe. My flock is currently molting, but I believe she has an impacted crop. I checked for and did not find any external parasites. I'm planning on keeping her...
She is about 2 years old as of now, and unfortunately I haven't been able to isolate her long enough to know if she lays. We have a flock of 21 but I will know more over the next few days (if she makes it that long).
a hen of my has been acting lethargic and having her tail feathers down, so I checked her abdomen and it was absolutely massive and relatively hard. I checked for an egg stuck (lubed glove up vent 2 inches) and there was nothing. She is breathing with her whole body and was eating and drinking...
We're near Worcester MA. I dont know what breeds the roos are. They came from an olive egger assortment from mypetchicken. https://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Hatching-Eggs/Olive-Egger-Assortment-p2362.aspx
We hatched some eggs recently and have two males that need to be rehomed. They are both olive eggers. One is a barred olive egger who started to attempt to crow this morning (6 weeks old) and the other is a 2 week old sex-link olive egger. The sex-linked is the chick on the right standing on...
We ended up assisting. The membrane had dried and was partially covering its eye, so we wet a bunch of paper towels with warm water, softened up the membrane, and then were able to peel it back easily. We could see that it was fully ready to come out of the shell by seeing inside, so we...
Hey all,
I've read plenty of articles about when to assist and all of that, but I'm worried she is stuck, because she only unzipped about a quarter of the shell, has been trying to push out for 12 hours, and has most of her head outside of the shell. Should I interfere or wait? Here is a picture...
I'm not familiar with ducks, but chicks will often come out of the egg and sleep almost appearing dead. They will still have part of the yolk attached to them in a gross yellow looking jelly kind of substance. That is normal, but once all of the eggs hatch and they dry off, you can move them to...

I once had a hen that had bumblefoot, and during her recovery she began an egg song (no egg) with some additional very load screaming. It almost sounded like the screaming goats videos if that helps... she's fine now completely, but as the others have said a video would be helpful.
Hello everyone,
I just bought an egg incubator (model in the title), and I was wondering what the item in the picture is? it came with it and fits into a slot for where an egg should go, but I don't see the purpose of this. Is it important to cover one?
Thanks!
Hey everyone, my buff Orpington has been sitting in the nesting boxes all day. I have a flock of 20 hens, not roosters, and I took the eggs out from under her this afternoon. Yesterday there were no eggs under her when she did this. At night, I have to take her out of the nesting box to put her...
