    I have not added any chickens within the last 2 years. Had no illness in the flock and because of the avian flu in my area they were not allowed to free roam for the last 6 months. Yesterday we had really bad wind in this area not sure if that is related.

    Today my BCM started to make strange noises, breathing with an open mouth. She acts normal, eats normal, behavior is normal just this strange loud breathing noise. No head shaking or anything. I took a video but somehow I can’t attach it. Any ideas?

    I have an almost 2 year old Bielefelder, she started laying this season a few weeks back. Today I noticed these whitish spots on her comb. Is this normal?

    Thank you for your reply. I see an obvious decrease in the bowls and whenever I refill they are eager to get them - they like the egg shells best so there is alway competition who get them first. I’d say my whole flock has thin shells with 3 of them being slighter thinner than the other 3.

    Salmonella outbreak in wild birds impact on my flock

    There is a salmonella outbreak in wild birds in my area. What danger does that pose for my chicken. Their food and water is out of reach for wild birds but I allow them to free range. should I keep them confined or is it enough that wild birds can’t get to their food/water source?
