Pros: Amazing hatch rates, simplify the process, no messing with humidity
Cons: Only hatches 7 large fowl or 12 bantam eggs
I have had nothing but success with my Brinsea Mini Advanced. This will be my fourth hatching season with it running for at least six consecutive weeks, and it still works great! (Although the fan does rattle a little more than it used to.)

I would highly recommend this to hobby hatchers anywhere!

Sussex

Pros: Chatty, friendly, curious, healthy, beautiful plumage
Cons: Sometimes too friendly, eggs not as big as production breeds
The Speckled Sussex is the Labrador of the chicken breeds. This is the only breed that allows my daughter to touch and hold them. They follow me around the yard and are curious about everything! They love to carry on a conversation with you and let you know loud and clear when they have laid an egg. Their egg laying has been good, except for the eggs are on the smaller side compared to my Easter Eggers and barnyard mixes.

The plumage on this breed is beautiful, with a deep mahogany base tipped with black stripes and white dots. I love their squatty plump body type.

If you are looking for an all around great chicken, the Speckled Sussex is for you.

Pros: Laid over 100 eggs in a row
Cons: Evil! Pecked the other hens bare. Finally went to the pot.
Would not recommend.

Ameraucana

Pros: Avoids danger at all costs!
Cons: Hates human contact. Not very intelligent.
While the rest of the chickens are gathering for their daily meal worms, our Ameraucana is frantically squirming about 5 feet behind the rest. We often have to free her from bushes, because she has gotten stuck. She is not quite of egg-laying age yet. Hoping for the best.

Pros: Can be used to bribe chickens into getting them to do what you want to.
Cons: Easily crunches into powder if the bag is smooshed.
These are great! The girls really do love them. The only problem I have had is if you aren't careful with the bag, the worms get ground up and turn into a powder which makes it difficult to use as a treat.
