Wyandotte

Pros: Beautiful, beautiful, oh and beautiful
Cons: SUPER flighty! Too pecky
I have a gold laced Wyandotte pair. Absolutely GORGEOUS. But they are the flightiest birds I have ever had! Especially the cockerel. He runs like a little girl. If I walk in, the bolt everywhere! If you want wild, get a Wyandotte. The pullet is also super pecky. Watch your fingers and cover your eyes! (Yes. She pecked me in the eye.)

Pros: Beautiful, great mamas
Cons: Flighty
I have a total of 5 orpingtons. All different colors. Great birds! So beautiful and fuzzy. Love the soft feathers. My only issue is the spookiness. Extremely hard to catch, and when you do, it's like holding a wet bar or soap. It's just doing every squirmy trick to get away! Other than that, it's my fave breed!

Pros: Everything about them is a pro!
Cons: Absolutely none
I have the sweetest New Hampshire pullet ever. She's my lap chicken. All my chickens stay in a run 24/7 but she is so great I let her out to free range while I do my chicken chores. She comes when I call her, super easy to catch (aka reach down and pick up-no actual catching involved) great with the other chickens, beautiful, and EVERYTHING
Pros: Lays lots of large brown eggs, very tame
Cons: They all look the same-need leg bands to tell them apart, aggressive towards new flock members
I have 5 of these beauties! 4 hens and a rooster. One of the ladies lays a whooping 3-4 eggs a day! (#EggLayingMachine) anywho, they are great birds! Super friendly, don't spook easy. You can't tell any of them apart. I have leg bands on mine and still have to flip them over to see who's who. The other issue is that these ladies are aggressive towards new members of the flock. I'm talking peck the poor newb to the bone. But, once they have had their little temper tantrum they are ok. The rooster is a good rooster. Defends his ladies, gentle boy. He went through a phase of attacking me though, but a few good kicks got him back in his place, and have no issues since.
Pros: Colored eggs, beautiful, no two look the same
Cons: Flighty
I have two Easter eggers. A pullet and a cockerel. They are lovely birds. Beautiful with super personalities. My only issues with them is that they are flighty, and sometimes grow in-proportion. As the flighty goes, I have issues catching them. They run super fast away from anything that's not food. When you do catch them, they scream like banshees and squirm like a maggot on hot ashes. The proportion thing isn't really an issue, but it happens. Being a mutt basically, sometimes you get... Odd looking chickens. For example, my cockerel has a rose comb. But, it's so large that it has flopped over on his head. Seriously. A gigantic flopped over rose comb. Anywho, I strongly suggest this breed, as they are a nice addition to any flock!
