Sussex

Pros: Docile, very productive, lovely birds
Cons: perhaps a bit too docile, get picked on by others
One of the loveliest birds in the yard! Sussex are so sweet-tempered and friendly and are steady and reliable layers. They tend to be picked on by others, but all in all, a great breed to include in one's flock.

I have been very happy with all of my delawares. They are friendly, calm and great egg-layers. I will always include them in my chick orders.

Pros: very productive, attractive birds, lovely egg color
Cons: too flighty
I will probably always have ameraucanas in my flocks, but not because they're my favorite. I just have to have them for the eggs. My customers love having some blue eggs in each carton, so I keep buying the hens just for that one reason. The hens are pretty to look at, but personality-wise, kinda crazy. I suppose if I only had a couple of hens, I could probably tame one enough to handle easily, but I just don't have time for it. They are a very productive bird, though, so that certainly compensates for their silly-crazies.

Pros: not aggressive, not flighty, steady layers, lovely egg color
Cons: ?
I've been very happy with the welsumers I have in my flock. I make certain to include them in my annual chick order. They are fairly docile, productive and the eggs are really quite pretty....what more could anyone want? The hens are not flashy, not as colorful as others in the flock, but they get the job done!
