My Pet Chicken
Pros: Was able to order 1 of each breed I wanted.
Fantastic Customer Service
Changing your order is simple
Cons: Shipping was expensive for small orders, but worth it IMO
Was so pleased with my experience with MPC (my pet chicken). They answered all my questions, made suggestions on breeds for my climate, allowed me to change my order as many times as I wanted up until the Thursday before hatch day (Mondays) and all my babies showed up healthy and thriving, Will absolutely order from them in the future. Since they are still babies I cannot tell if they were sexed correctly, but I have faith in this company.
Pros: Wide variety, good stock of bird, arrived safe and healthy
Cons: Shipping costs can be high on small orders
I’ve used Cackle several times and I’m waiting on 36 Orpingtons now.
always gotten extras and always had any questions answered in a timely manner.

I recommend ordering from mypetchicken.com. I have no experience with mcmurray, but I had excellent experience with mypetchicken.
I am so very sorry for your losses and what your familyis going through...I can only imagine.

I type this with some trepidation, but I think it needs to be said. When you say it is the chicks that are the favorites that are dying, it makes me wonder if too much handling might have something to do with it. Very young chicks can't take much handling -- it is stressful for them. I would back off on the handling and see what happens. I believe the section on BYC that tells how to socialize chicks says not to handle them at all for the first week. And be careful to wash hands before and after handling. Good luck and I hope things get better!

Agreed! I ordered 25 Buff Orpingtons (22f / 3m), and opted for the bonus rare breed. 27 chicks arrived, happy and healthy. They sent an extra Male (I should have known -_-) to compensate for any that may not make the first few days, and the rare breed: a brown furry-foot (cochin or brahma?). Strange though, one of the chicks that I assumed was buff grew to be bright white with blue-tinted legs. It's been six weeks now and we haven't lost a single one! I believe the white one is just a misplaced chick, and not a second bonus breed, as it wasn't listed so on the shipping note. I would definitely recommend McMurray, as it was recommended to me by a friend.

Now we've identified all the chicks. They are 3 RIR, Golden Polish, 16 Cornish X Rocks, Buff Cochin, Black Australorp, 3 Blue Andalusians, a white Jersey giant, and 2 Silver Spangled Hamburgs. :)

I was very happy with the 6 chicks I got from Ideal 3 SL Polish and 3 Austrolaps. I mean all the way from Texas to NY very impressive with healthy chicks!

This whole review smells funny. Who delivers mail on Sunday? No body.

whats the name of the company, we have new chicks, picked up thursday from PO, and have lossed 8 so far. they shipped from Ohio to Ga.. lost 5 the 1st day and today was another.. any ideas to what might be wrong.. thanks so much

Buff Orpington, Dominique, Golden Buff, Golden Laced Wyandotte, Partridge Cochin, Partridge Rock, Buff Laced Polish, Silver Spangled Hamburg, Easter Egger, Buff Brahma Bantam, and Mottled Cochin Bantams. :)

I had tried Old English Game chicks - they were vaccinated and uh, they were both sickly and died by 3 weeks of age.

I got mine from McMurray. Didn't have any problems but you do need to get 25 chicks per order if I remember correctly

I have ordered chicks from Ideal and have been happy with the birds. jspitzer221 I did have an order of 10 Delaware pullets last year and ended up with 9 pullets and Joe the Rooster. However, they guarantee 90% sexing accuracy, and in this case, they were right at 90%.

You can get very few chicks, just as long as the total comes to 25 dollars. I dont know what the shipping cost is.
